Hi, You can give SCJP 1.4 or 1.5 or 6.0 to be eligible for that. But if you are going to give SCJP, you have to give a serious attempt to it. I mean you have to prepare for the examination to an extent even if you are a Java programmer. If you are not really interested in preparing for SCJP, it will be difficult to clear that. I'm just saying that the SCJP is not an easy exam. Some people think that because they already know how to program in Java, they can pass the SCJP without much preparation. But there are a lot of details in the SCJP exam that require special attention, so you really need to focus on that first.
The 1.4 version is pretty old at this point. I would recommend the 1.5 exam (only because the 1.6 exam is so new that there are not a lot of study materials available for it yet).
