Hi,
I want to take SCDJWS..
However I learnt that for that I need to be a SCJP..
So if I take the SCJP 1.4, will I be eligible to take the SCDJWS?

I could also take the latest SCJP 6.0 but I dont want to divert my time and energy since I am really interested to take the SCDJWS..

Any help would be appreciated..
Thanks..

Hi,
You can give SCJP 1.4 or 1.5 or 6.0 to be eligible for that. But if you are going to give SCJP, you have to give a serious attempt to it. I mean you have to prepare for the examination to an extent even if you are a Java programmer. If you are not really interested in preparing for SCJP, it will be difficult to clear that.
Hope this helps.

Regards,
Swapnil

You might want to have a look at Sun's official SCDJWS page...

Prerequisites: Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform (any edition)

But consider Swapnil's advice. If you are looking past the SCJP, then you may have a hard time clearing it.

I did not get you point..
Will I have a hard time clearing SCJP 1.4 or SCDJWS?
Of course I would focus on SCJP first for a few months and only passing that would I concentrate on SCDJWS..

But do you guys suggest SCJP 5.0 to take first?
Although my final destination is SCDJWS.. I could prepare for SCJP 5.0 also but just thought that that would take more time, so settled for SCJP 1.4..

What do you guys suggest if one's destination is SCDJWS? Should I take SCJP 1.4 to just fill in the pre-requisites or should I go for SCJP 5.0 ?

Any help would be appreciated..
Thanks..

I'm just saying that the SCJP is not an easy exam. Some people think that because they already know how to program in Java, they can pass the SCJP without much preparation. But there are a lot of details in the SCJP exam that require special attention, so you really need to focus on that first.

The 1.4 version is pretty old at this point. I would recommend the 1.5 exam (only because the 1.6 exam is so new that there are not a lot of study materials available for it yet).
