After turning so many pages once you reach at the end of the chapter, and suprise!! you've mock test paper, but that mock test does'nt satisfy me because i dont think that only those few questions could really test our knowledge on the entire chapter....
I think there should've been some more question in the mock test.
Hi Suresh. Welcome to javaranch. Don't think that people here will not be interested in listening to criticism of the book. You will find the authors of the book admitting the errors in the book and appreciating the opinions of people about the book.
As far as your question is concerned, I also felt the same way when I first read the book. Before that I had read the book by Khalid Mughal and it has a lot of questions. But then I realized that this way of learning is also good. If you are given a lot of questions at the end of every chapter, you will be able to solve them easily as it will test something that you have just read. But I feel that the authors have done a great job by giving 3 mock papers instead of questions at the end of each chapter. That way you will be tested for topics in an arbitrary order. That way you can realize your weak areas more thoroughly.
The questions at the end of each chapter are also good. I always get a few of them wrong every time. The questions test 2-3 concepts at the same time. So you have to use your brain to solve them. This way I think you will be prepared for the real exam better...
I haven't programmed with Java for five years and that was with Java 1.2. K&B was the only resource I used for Java 5 Sun Certification along with my own programming tests. I passed the test. Good luck and study hard.
Software development is an exercise in thinking not coding.
