I passed SCJP 5 with 80%.
There are 2 reasons I want to take SCJP 6:
1. I want to update my certificate.
2. This time I want to go for 90+.

So, please anyone tell me the difference, according to the topics, between SCJP 5 and SCJP 6 exams

Hi Arijit,

I suggest you to go for SCWCD. Please don't waste your time. You have to go a long way. You could do SCJP 6 later. This is personal opinion.

Thanks,

Thanks Naveen............
I am going with SCWCD. I just wanted to know the topics so that when I will get bored with SCWCD topics, I can go through an interesting Core Java topic.

Just two new topics - Navigable collections and the Console class. It's really not worth upgrading if you already have the SCJP 5 cert.

Thanks Bert.
One question!
If the certification is to make one know one's weakness, then why is one not given chance to take the exam after passing it with low score?

It is not so that you are not allowed to do the SCJP 6 upgrade exam - it's just that it doesn't really have any benefits if you are already SCJP 5 certified.

Employers most likely will not care if you are SCJP 5 or 6 certified. The score is not on your certificate; what matters is that you passed the exam. The time, effort and money that you'd have to invest are not really worth the small difference between SCJP 5 and 6.
