I just downloaded and installed JAI for Windows JDK and the Samples files. Then I tried to run JAIDemo sample. But I am receiving the following error. Could anybody point out what I am doing wrong.
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/media/jai/PlanarImage
at JAIDemo.<init>(JAIDemo.java:451)
at JAIDemo.main(JAIDemo.java:608)
Thanks you

This is because the classpath evironment variable does not have the Jai jar. When we install JAI, a jar file for JAI is put in the jre/lib/ext folder. This should generally be available in the class path.
But I too encountered this problem, and had to explicitly specify the classpath. Then it worked. There was no problem compiling the programs.
