How to add entries to LDAP using JNDI?

The requirement is :
The user searchs if a particular username is present.If not present, that username will get added to the LDAP directory.
I have already managed to SEARCH if a particular entry is present or not,but am stuck on the addition part. I cant understand how to add an entry under a subcontext.If I am adding an entry,do I still have to Name it?
Can anybody help me?
