My task is to develop an app which will take user input(in form of matrix) and generate dynamic images based on that input.
I have searched a lot of google and otehr sites but could not find any help..

Two possible libraries to use are JFreeChart, if the image is a chart of some kind, or ImageJ for a more genberal solution. Or use the java.awt.* classes, with which you can generate images as well.

Generating an image in a servlet isn't any different from generating an image in any other Java application, except that there is no GUI to display it.
