How basic can you get.....

What is the easiest way to take a string called 'outputString' and put it in a file called 'outputFile'. How do I open the file (it already exists), write and close? Thanks.

make sure to import java.io.* in your class.

String output = "this goes in to the file";
File thefile = null;
FileWriter outtofile = null;
try{
   thefile = new File("filename");
   outtofile =new FileWriter(thefile);
   outtofile.write(output);
   outtofile.close();
} catch (Exception e){
   // several types of exceptions can be
   // thrown in the try block. it would be
   // better to catch each type individually.
}
