Hi all, I have tried to look for job (in Java) for 6 months with no luck. I have 3 years experience in Java. Most of the jobs are looking for C# .Net or VBNet which I don't know about it. What do you think guys? Should I switch to learn and be .Net programmer? Also many jobs are looking for JDEdwards, SAP,TIBCO. I don't mind to learn JDEdwards or SAP, but they are very expensive. Could someone give me a lead what should I do to get a job?? I'm so depressed right now. Thanks..

I was downsized in November, and still looking. It's a bit tough right now for someone in the Junior positions. You have three years, I have two. I think lots of people with 5 or more years experience are applying for and accepting jobs that a year or even six months ago, they would not have tried for.
So the market right now is very tight. Plus, Nov/Dec/Jan are not typically a busy time for hiring. Everyone is more concerned about holidays in December, and year-end budgets plus other factors don't see hiring until well into the New Year.
But there is reason to be optimistic. In my location (winnipeg) there has been an increase in Programmer/Analyst type postings within the last month, and even a few Java specific ones. Plus the budget was a 'spend' one. So that's good news for federal departments, although we'd have to wait probably another 6 months to feel any benefit from it.
