The Singaporean government actively recruits foreign talent. I forget which goverment agency does it but if you search around you should be able to fnd it. In the US their offices are called "Contact Singapore."

    Hi,
Singapore is a dynamic country, a tiny version of US. I am sure you will find happiness there. I have one brother sent there by the company, then married and settle there for good.

Three years back I had been to singapore for about 6 months.Life is truly
wonderul there.I never been to US but had been to south korea, HK too.
All i can say is for indian, Singapore should be a good choice.
1> You can find indian foods very easily.Even masala dosa, idali etc.
many panjabi dhabas are there. The famous indian outlet includes
    komala vilas and ganzes.
2> Peoples are very friendly and co-operative.
3> Almost all IT compnay have presence there including our own indian
    company.
4> Sinapore Dollar rate is also good.
    5> Very clean city.
6> Crime rate is almost neglizable.
    7> Transportation is best.
6> relatively cheap. You can get good foods in just 4-5 dollars.
7> about 10% population are indian so you can feel at home.Even there is
one area called little india where you will find most Indian people.
8> About 4 hours journey from mumbai. So even on weekends you can visit
India. Also you can afford many visit to india.
9> Visa regulation and security constraints are normal.
10> Very big market.Got big shopping malls including mustafa.Very good for
shopping. Does not have much industries. But have offices of almost
    all companies.
11> It is connected to all country.
    12> Weather is very pleasant.
13> Got nice tourist attraction like santosa, beaches, night safari etc
14> Oppertunity are good.Especially for IT.
15> Finding home is not a problem. But have to go for flat in apartment.
Due to space constraints, independent house are relatively less.
16> There is little problem of parking.
17> Malaysia is about half hour journey.Nice country to visit.
    18> Respect for indians.
19> One things i do not know about is School.Singapore have got some of
    best college.
20> Working time is normal.Peoples are very punctual.Generally people are
co-operative and helpful at work and are good team members.
21> I think work pressure is dependends on company and project.I have seen
few singaporean people working late night. But seen lots of indians
    working late night including myself.
22> Java has good market there. Many job oppertunities are advertised in
local news paper. So if you have any friends in Singapore, he/she can
help you. They have some local sites where you can find job
oppertinities but i do not remember it now. Some indian company sends
Singapre on contract(Body shopping) but you have to pay good
percentages from your salary. My one friend was placed through Apar
    infotech.
23> Salary is comparatively good.We can save good amount of money.

One need to analyze all aspects including quality of life not just job oppertunities if you move to some other country for long period of time.
AW, this is based on my experience.May vary from people to people.
But i found singapre is very good to live for indians.

I'm currently in Thailand... I don't think it is hard to get a good career in Singapore, if u got there... But there is only one thing... Visa Issue... I don't think it is that easy to apply a job from outside Singapore and arrange for an interview...
One suggestion is to get a tourist visa... Then find a job, when u got landed on the Singapore... so that it will be more comfortable for companies.....
As for other things, Singapore got everything in it... but one more city to think of in Asia is Hong Kong... I heard that salary level at Hong Kong is relatively higher than that of Singapore... I'm not that sure about that....

    Hi,
I think that is a universal of Chinese heritage trait work environment. If you work in that environment, I am sure you will pick up some of it despite the fact there are westerner companies over there, but you still operate in that project driven mentality.
You will see there is a substantial different between white collar and blue collar worker in term of rewards, perks, etc.
The best approach is read world business, technologies, and science magazines, you will see Singapore companies advertise and vacant positions. I will not count on any search engines.
Notice: Singapore is a very limited in space, you must be the best of the best to land a position there.
    Regards,
    MCao

Also Singapore dollar is much stronger than Hongkong dollar.
For indian, it is difficult to find Indian food in HK.
In singapore you can find pure vegeterian food very easily.

It also depends if you do not work in home country.I remember one incident. When I was in singapore, it was a time of christmas. The company where I was working, they declared 7-8 days holiday. All other employee were celebrating christmas but they asked us (Indian) to work during christmas holiday.Simply becouse christmas is not an indian festival.
This is based on my experience.May be rare incident.

Immigration to any country is becoming difficult day by day.Future work will be short stints to these kind of locations for say 3/6 months and return back.Constant upgradation or learning instead of decrying is only the solution I see.

That fad of marrying only to those working aborad is now not much. Some attraction is still there in north part of India, especially Punjab.Working women generally don't prefer men working aborad.Bcos some xyz visa rule prohibits them to work in that country.

I don't.If the criteria is working abroad, than I would reject girl before
she/their parents reject me.Working abroad does not mean that you will give her a great life.I have seen many indians working abroad as room cleaner, waiter, servent and much more.Would girl understand that the person who are in such a low profession would provide her a better life?
Many girls have been cheated by so called working abroad person.
Ultimately they are land up with a life as servent. Why girl do not take any lesson from such a incidents.I hate such like-minded girls.

    Me too!!!
Seriously though, I have started hating this type even more ever since I have seen my close friend's wedding getting cancelled even after engagement because he was laid off during that period.
Men are not money making machnines!!! But that's another topic more apt for MD!

    Countless ways....
Ask any divorce lawyer dealing with NRI cases. You'd be amused by the atrocity and cleverness with with these highly educated individuals cheat their spouse.

There are always two sides.and each side tries to justify its reasoning.Breaking the engagement is not only harmful to groom but also more to bride. So there must be some other reasons in addition with this.
Anyway, how many here are in marriage market now?

I agree there always are two sides!!!
And the reason the wedding got cancelled after engagement was due to fact that the grrom was laid off, and girl's father thought it was justified to cancell the wedding.
My friend did get a job after another 2 months, but I have seen frustration he was going through in that period....
Anyway, very reluctatnt to carry this forward as it is gettig diverted from the riginal topic.
