Hi,

How do i compile a jsp page manually through a command line tool...
I dont want to use jspc of ant.

Is it possible ??

how would you compile a java file manually without using javac.

javac for java files
jspc for jsp files

you have the other option just put your jsps inside tomcat /web-inf/ directory. it will compile for you.

and i think ANT is a command line tool. isn't it.

I guess Mr. Atul's question is about converting the jsp files to java and then compiling before deploying jsp to the web server or app server. so that response generation should not take extra time even for the first request.....

Ok you will save the time. but what about further java to class. you will use something to compile java files.

so just put the jsps in tomcat web-inf directory. it will take time for the first time but the first user would be the developer probably not the client.

For security reasons, some folks like to Disable JSP compilation in their Servlet containers.

Take a look at the "Web Application Compilation" section of "The Tomcat 4 Servlet/JSP Container" documentation.
