Market Rate??

Hi,
I have to negotiate the hourly rate for a job. Job description is monitering and running scripts. If something goes wrong than have to look into it but not in depth. Instead have to fwd it to developers who wrote it. Skills used: unix, Shell scripting, SQL, Java

Its a NIGHT SHIFT (12 hr) includes working ON WEEK ENDS too!

Please give me idea of market rate for this type of consulting job.

Without mentioning where you and the job is located, no one can answer your question. (U.S.A ?? India?? U.K ?? Iraq ??? )

I don't know about the hourly rate, but if it's a full-time permenant position in where I am (Philadelphia suburb), $30,000 - $40,000 per year would be reasonable for this type of job.

I'd think 15-20 an hour sounds about right, assuming you get straight pay for the overtime.

If the responsibility level is low then the pay should be lower. If there are no benefits you can add a few bucks to the rate.

If it is a contract and if it is without benefits then u can get more.

As this is a night and 12 hour shift go for a little higher rate
like 30-45$ range.
