Hi,
I have a html file calling a jsp file in which there is a submit button and an action attribute in the form tag calling the jsp file. I am getting the following exception.
org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to compile class for JSP

Can you please tell me as to how i should correct this error.
With regards,
Padma priya N.G.

Please be more elaborate. If you provide your code, only then can we look for errors. The things that you have mentioned are quite generic.

There can be many reasons for which a jsp cannot pass through the compilation phase.
Post your code.

Hi,
The name of the form is form1. For the submit button, the attributes are type=submit and the click method calls a method called testCheck()

What does this Javascript function have to do with the JSP page compiling?

hello,

First always remember: " Clearly stated problem is half solved".

In this case, it is very clear that, JSP does contain some script errors.

Please review your JSP page or Post the JSP page code here.

The problem is that the control is not forwarded from the html file(index.html) to the jsp file(test.jsp). The structure of the war file is as follows:

struts_blank(Name of the root application)
|
jspfiles web-inf
| |
index.html,test.jsp web.xml

The attributes of the form tag are
name="tstest", action="test.jsp", method="post", onReset="return ResetAll()"

I find that the html file does not call the jsp file ie, the action method is not triggered.

"siva ram@tech",
Welcome to the JavaRanch.

We're a friendly group, but we do require members to have valid display names.

Display names must be two words: your first name, a space, then your last name. Fictitious names are not allowed.

Please edit your profile and correct your display name since accounts with invalid display names get deleted, often without warning

thanks,
Dave

Your JSP file has been called, thats the reason you are getting JasperException. Just clear your JSP and put some SOP to make sure it's called. Or You can comment some codes which you think might be causing the problem.

"Siraj DH", you have previously been warned on one or more occasions regarding adjusting your display name to meet JavaRanch standards. This is not optional. Please take a look at the JavaRanch Naming Policy and adjust your display name to match it prior to your next post.

Your display name must be a first and a last name separated by a space character, and must not be obviously fictitious.

Be aware that accounts with invalid display names are removed.
