IBM / GE / IFLEX

Hi ,

Having got offers from IBM,GE,Iflex.. which option will be better one (irrespective of Sal) ?

I feel workwise there should be little relaxation & good learning curve also provided with good facilities.

Please let me know your thoughts in this regard.

I feel your learning curve will be high with Iflex. In IBM you always may not have chance to work with challenging projects so, chances are 50 and 50%. Learningwise GE is the best place to learn but there will be lot of work pressure.

Is GE really that hectic as mentioned always ? Any GE - Java ranchers please let us know this fact please...
So how about iflex then...with reference to work pressure & others ?

We do some projects for GE,
they are pretty flexible,
but you have to do your work and meet deadlines.
Many projects they started have failed, so they are very particular about how things are done. You may endup working 5-10 hours more a week, but not if you do everything on time. Which GE business is it?

Another note: I recently talked to one of the manegers from IBM(US, NY), he mentioned that at this time, women in IBM have better growth potential than men. Doesn't sound right to me, but just passing his word.

It is GE HealthCare for SWB project.
As am hearing always, GE - More work pressure,hectic schedule. It has become a punchline for GE.
How far is this true only GE - rancher ppl shd tell us ?
How about Iflex work conditions ?

Any pointers in this issue are hearty welcome.

According to recent news in New York times,IBM India will be hiring 14,000 people.Two week back when my friend joined,there were 35 people with him on first day.From the day one,he is going at 8:30 AM and coming at 10PM.Married women are preferred as they prefer stability than unmarried single men who are ready to move anywhere in a country/world!

well me moved from Infosys to i-Flex sometime back.
About i-Flex I couls say

All Projects are finacial domain projects. So much to learn domainwise.

85% people do leave on time. so not such hectic schedule. It was vey hectic when I was in Infosys and deadlines were always short

Well I work in Mumbai, Facilities are good. Dont abt thier other offices

seeing the offer u hold...iflex seems to be a gr8 place...as itz a international company with indian face...soo i can say work culture will be good and also if you see long term growth,itz stable and secure.
company offers you good facilities also like free pickup n drop and free lunch ,which will be an added advantage apart from the work.Iflex has two building in bangalore ,one is dedicated for product developments and one @ whitefiled is dedicated for services.
Assignments will of shorter duration,you will get nice onsite visit within few months of joining.They will keep observing you for the first few months...if u meet their expectation,then u r going to have challenging work with good money...frequent onsite...they will give above ur expectation.

i hope it will help u in making decision.

Hi Krishnaraj , are you in product development ? where is your office ? bangalore ? pune ?

I am in Iflex , mumbai in services division..must say that there is domain expertise n work pressure is less , but there are a lot of people on bench right now. Onsite opportunities are also few.

Actually I am working for Fidelity Investments,Bangalore.
2 months back...I had same situation what sania is facing now.
i had offer from GE,Iflex n Fidelity...during that period i gathered some info. about GE,IFlex n Fidelity...and for good reason i joined fidelity and i m quite happy for the decision.The tough decision was to choose b/n IFlex n Fidelity.

Sania...regarding IBM...I dont have any idea about their work culture...but they are masters in layoff's!!!...they take in bulk..and send in bulk...though still india is not affected...currently they look very positive.their products are doing well in market.

make wise decision...and live happy...

The very best thing with fidelity is the financial domain,and you will be working with worlds largest and best performing financial company!!!
work wise..itz not hectic at all...you will get 5-6 hrs work...no work pressure.resource allocation is very proffesional,and they follow good practices for development.company gives more importance to the work environment.

product wise..i can say..they have got lots of good products/services running...and they are the second largest company who spend money on technology after IBM.But here every thing is inhouse development.

one thing is being financial company.fidelity gives more importance to the background of employee.they do detail verification about your experiance and ur academic qualifications.They will even go to ur primary school!! for ur academic verification...!!!...

Package wise i can say..they match the industry standards.and offers very good facilities.

Well, Just forget GE, choose from other 2. I have got some experience with GE, so would advice you not to go for that

I would say.. don't choose GE. atleast not GE Appliances. They have reached saturation. Now GE mainly concentrates on cost-cutting measures. No wonder they have opened offices in India and started recruiting of their own. i dunno about other divisions, atleast GE App does not have great projects running. One of my friends is there and most of them r prod support.

in my opinion i-flex would be a better choice...
