Hi all,

I've 2+ years experience in Java, J2ee and Struts. I'm currently working with HCl Technologies Ltd. Chennai.

I've an offer with HP Globalsoft for 4.2 lakhs per annum and another for 3.82 from CTS.

I'm really confused as to which offer to take as i don't want to decide based only on the money factor. Moreover I don't have any idea about HP in Chennai and what kind of projects are being taken up here.

I heard from some people that there are not much people employed in Chennai right now?

Can anyone help me as I've to take a decision in a day or two.

Thanks in Advance,

Regards
Shankar

Both are good companies. HP is havaing their own projects. The projects can be either internal or products which are providing services to HP customers.

CTS is services oriented company. You will get chance to work with different domains. Chances of going to onsite is more with CTS. In HP it depends on project. Especially CTS, Chennai is really doing good.

HP started development center recently. So you may not find much people there but they are going to recruit more people there. Work culture will be very good in HP and there wont be much work pressure.

Hi Reddy,

Thanks for your immediate response.

But I'm not able to come to a decision based on your reply as yours supports both.

I enquired with people here and heard that there are only around 90 people working in chennai and they are constructing a branch in chennai only now and they are planning to bring projects from Bangalore.

As I am only a software engineer and want to work in more projects in my career is it advisable to take HP considering the higher pay alone?

Is it worthwhile to shift for a pay of 3.8 when I'm getting 3.1 now?

Basically I'm not money-oriented and I don't want to base my decision on money.

Even I heard that CTS chennai is growing rapidly.

Please consider you in my position and also think in the lines that I may get married in a year or so.

What would your advise be? WHich one to choose?

See if you are not worried much about onsite HP is better. As it is growing in Chennai you will have advantage of being starting member of setup. In HP there are lot of big projects. But if you are assinged to a project you need stay in that project atleast for 2 years. If that project is not having onsite you wont have onsite for next 2 years.

Where as in CTS its services oriented company. You will get chance to work in different domains and onsite opportunities are more. Same time there will be work pressure as compare to HP.

In your scenario changing a company for Rs 70,000 per year may not be worth. Career is more important than money but same time we cant neglect money also. Also try to compare the designations in each organization. Remember in HP you may not work on any specifc domain.

So after looking above factors HP seems to be better for your situation. Same time wait for other ranchers suggestions.
