First let me ask you do you think your query related to Jobs Discussion?

I heard ICICI Demat is good. Not sure about Citibank but, their charges are high.

If you can save Rs 3000/- per month you can spend some amount in Mutual Funds SIP(Systematic Investment Plan)

This question isn't meaningless. MD won't be a right choice for this question. If this question has to be posted in JR then this forum is the only choice I feel.
I have seen questions over good books for GMAT etc. been entertained here, which actually aren't directly job related.

Probably, Mark or other moderators can clarify more on this.

You can find more info about investments here: http://us.rediff.com/getahead/money.htm

All the columns in above link suggest Mutual Funds with SIP. According them the average returns varies from 20 to 40%. Even you have Tax saving MFs also.

Since the market is a all time high (yeah it is down today ) investing in mutual funds would be good. ICICI Direct allows you apply online for IPO which I dont think Citibank does. My experience with kotak hasn't been better so ICICI could be best bet. Having said that all indian trading sites are slow particulary providing online IPO and mutual fund facilties. HDFC securities is good but does not provide online facility for IPO.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
