Many of us access this forum from work and won't like the sniffer programs to read the 'not nice' words if you happen to click on the link below.

We don't want a Google search for 'unlimited dirty jokes' to end up on JavaRanch.

Only fun forwards for fun ...

If you have an unpermissive work environment it's perhaps best not to peruse the Meaningless Drivel forum at all...

I don't see a single bad word on the linked-to page. Of course, that may be because there are so many non-English words. That's one reason we have an English-only policy: so the whole staff can look out for inappropriate posts.

So what are the bad words?

In my opinion, the words d*ck, b**b, sh*t, f*ck don't fit in the 'be nice' policy.

There are lot of Hindi words which would translate to a**hole etc.

Maybe the subject line could be changed to include "(rated PG for language)"

I never open up this & other couple of forums (that's not true anymore) but I am bit frustrated with the post's off late (everyday I see more meaningless drivel post than anything of worth). I believe ranch is place for java forum. Isn't there anything bartenders can do to discipline the post?

Well, yeah. Your other link pointed to page 11, which didn't contain any of those words.

We've talked about this kind of thing at great length in the past. The consensus is that single bad words are not going to be censored -- this isn't Disneyland, after all. But truly offensive jokes -- those that are racist or misogynistic -- will generally be removed.

Feel free to report any specific posts that offend you to me, or to any of the MD bartenders.

As for the fella that thinks there's too much MD -- then don't read MD, just read the rest of the site!

If there is a "drivel" post outside of Meaningless Drivel and it's not moved within about 24 hours (remember, we have lives outside the ranch), let us know. Within Meaningless Drivel, there really aren't any rules other than "Be nice." Swearing isn't inherently not nice, unless it's directed at other people. Outisde of Meaningless Drive the rules are, "keep it on topic" and "be nice." Let us know if you see violations of these rules.
