I have 2 yrs of
J2EE experience(in 2 development projects). I felt that i want to go onsite as i want a change/improvement in job career. i am good in analysis skills. so, I thought i will be doing better if i go onsite as most of onsite jobs are business analysis kind of. But there were no new projects under my manager and i was waiting for nearly 7/8 months with visa. Thought it was high time to ask. So, i went and asked my manager to send me onsite if not for his projects atleast for any onsite projects. He too send me onsite, not for
java project but for production support for oracle(pl/sql). I too accepted this because other than java, i was known for sql skill sets and performance tuning in my previous projects. My onsite project is a sap project and few of the legacy applications are oracle and converting them to sap. And i am doing production support role here in oracle (pl/sql). Most of my work is again devpt/enhancment now in oracle(pl/sql) and maintenance/monitoring of legacy applications and i am not able to do much analysis work here as i expected because i dont have business knowledge of n number of applications here in oracle and also sap knowledge. Ok, i thought anyway we have come here now, atleast we can make money for some time here at onsite(though i dont like job here much) and then go back to india. Now, its been a long time. its nearly 8 months i came here. I thought atleast i can go back in 1 yr. When i asked my client for approval, he asked me to stay here some more time. He is asking me to go back to india for vacation and then come back. Actually, my client is also a IT team member. He wants a person to support his role (otherwise, if i go, he needs to take care my role too). He expects oracle to be there for one more yr and he wants my support for 1 more yr or little less than that. He is one of very good managers/leads i have been working with. I am not actually able to say No to him now.
My question is what to do? shall i say no?
or stay here for some time and go?
how can i improve my skill sets by being here?
i feel my career is getting spoiled by being here. i took
scjp exam here. planning to proceed with other exams. let me know how i should proceed.
