H All,
I am from India.I have more that 2 years of J2EE experience.
Have any one of you heard about/ got offer from a H1B consultant named Softech Int'l Resources, Inc.,3300 Holcomb Bridge Road, Suite # 216,Norcross, GA 30092,www.softintl.com

I have got an offer from them. The offer amount is $45K per anum.
I don't have to pay any money for Visa processing or flight ticket initially. But after reaching there i have to attend their client interviews. And till I clear any of this interviews they will be paying me a stipend of $500 only.

Could some one tell me how good is the offer ?
Is there some one how went to US with an offer like this ?
Any info will be highly helpful.

Thanks,
Aswathi

Aswathi,
It is ok that you've been asked not to pay for visa processing fee but you have to understand that you dont have a project to work on when you come here to the US. For all you know, you might get lucky and land on a project pretty soon but that keep in mind it could take sometime too. So be mentally prepared to wait for sometime, if it comes to that. Also ask them if they are going to market you as per your profile or do they involve in cooking up your resume (lotsa consulting companies encourage doing this). So if you have ethical problems (like what I had) in changing ur resume, now is the time to talk to your prospective employer. Also have they promised accommodation and expenses during job search? Coz in a place like GA, you cannot manage without a car - so get those details also squared out. And collect as much info possible on what your employment contract is.

Good Luck!

Cheers
Ganpi

If you think you are technically good and have decent communication skills, you should be ok.

After you come here, you will most probably be put up with a couple of more people like yourself in a company apartment. Once you get a project - within a month if you are good, you will be all set. Meanwhile, you can do your ground work like learning to drive, ssn, bank account etc. $500 in GA will be fine if they are giving you free accomodation. Don't think of saving anything from this 500$.

After you start the project, quit the company and join another one in 6 months. You will easily get 60K+. In fact, even this company will pay you 60K+ if you tell them that you are leaving. But don't do anything untill you know your way around in US. It takes about 6 months for that.

Pretty much everybody goes through this process. Don't worry, all these companies are same. Some are a little better (like mine was, it doesn't exist anymore ) and they pay full salary from day one but don't get too hung up on that. It is only a matter of a month or two.

No, I wouldn't recommend it. If you have to pay for anything then that is a problem. As long as nothing goes out of your pocket, you have a upper hand. I would advise you to look for a company that does not ask for money. It is ok if they don't pay you much until you find a project.

recently my friend got a similar offer from a consultant called summitworks.
they have offered him 60,000$ annualy.
they have also promised to pay the salary even when he is not in a project.
only thing is he has to give a bank guarantee for 1 lakh rs.
in case he doesnt not take the offer after getting the H1B visa then he will have to pay back the amount.
so can anbody suggest whether it is ok to take up the offer ?
