Dear All,

How is Covansys, Banglore.

I am currently working in a good MNC, CMMI-5 company. 1.10 years experience. Salary is 4LPA.

I am selected in Covansys but offer needs to be made. What should I ask in terms of salary? How is work and ohter facilities there? How is onsite?

Going banglore from Pune is good decision?

Thanks.

Many thanks CM.

Could you please elaborate your response. In what terms, it is great?

I attended interview in Pune for Java Developer position but I don't have any idea about department.

Please reply.

Thanks.

Ankur,
If you are already in a good MNC, Covansys can be no way better. Its really no use jumping to Covansys, because once you jump, you have to stay there for atleast another 3 yrs and might not see much of a career growth. My suggestion would be to try for MNCs like I2 or IBM or even Yahoo, where java/j2ee is rampant and salary is much much higher and working environment, well s**y. If not immediately, you will surely get splendid offers after completing 2 yrs in your current company. Your next jump should be really BIG, interms of salary and ALSO THE COMPANY BRAND !! So you could may be stick on till you complete 2 yrs, and take the big, giant leap . Convansys is not my bet for an MNC experienced Guy.

Even I agree with Shankar Iyer

For a small salary growth anythingless than 2 lakhs , its not worth changing the company and along with that the city also as in your case.

You are working in a MNC anyways and 4lakhs is good enough. So for 5lakhs or even 5.5 is just not a good raise.
Part of it will be gone in tax anyways.Plus staying in Bangalore is probably costly than Pune.(I guess)

I mean if you are looking out for a change then its better you make it count in all respects.

As Shanker said, wait for some more time assuming that you are not completely bugged with the work in the current company and make it to really big mnc's

Hi,

Actually my current salary is 3.15 LPA but I am expecting it to be around 4+ LPA from this April. So I wrote 4 LPA above so I can get more real advice. Sorry if any body feel I didn't do fair job.

And the project I am working on currently can be said worst. Nothing to learn other than documentation and communication. Also, I can't change project in my current company.

Now, what is advice?
Thanks.

Ankur,
my suggestion would be to try for a good project in your current company itself!! HR people are generally co-operative on this matter. If its not possible at all, go to Covansys only if you are 100% SURE that they will give you a good development project;also keep trying elsewhere, because Covansys might not be the ideal place to jump, in terms of brand and salary, after having experince in an MNC.
Also remember that once you change your company, you have to stay there for atleast 2-3 yrs, because too much of chopping and changing companies is not good.
Hence consider all the Pros and Cons and take a BOLD decision!!

Today, they made an offer of 3.80 LPA.

They said that we will offer you on the basis of what you are getting currently (from last six month) not on the basis of what you are going to get or supposed to get.

I can't accept this offer at 3.80 but I want to leave my current company.

What should I say to them?
What should I do?

Thanks.

Then try else where!! There is no dearth of programmers's jobs. Give your resume to all your friends working in good MNCs and wait for your interview call!!

If you are very keen on changing the job AND also want a good hike, wait for some time, get your hike in the present company and then show the actaul salary.

It's always like if the other company has a budget of between say 5-6 for 2 yr. exp. guy and the person is making say 3 LPA, they will try make an offer of 4.5. In such cases your actaul salary slip and negotiation skills work. This is how the game is played

The other company has a valid argument of offering you according to your current salary.

Also B'lore IS costlier then Pune, so the hike will feel much 'mild' once you shift there.

Yesterday I just met a guy who works in Convansys here in USA and I heard that it is not at all doing good. Some small company bought it recently.. Don't know details of that company though..

Hope you took right decision.
