As far as I know,It's pleasantly different from rigid places such as Wipro and Satyam. I cannot say how it fares against Foreign-based Gaints(MS, SAPLABS etc.,).

Well it all depends on the PU and project you land up in. There are onsite options but remember not every one is sent onsite. around 70% of infy works from India.

Personally, I feel that one have to exceptional to be noticed in 30K+ strong organization, else one will just one developer some where.

Infy will be good once you are fresher but after 4-5 experience you don't like to do maintainance. And most of indian big companies does maintainance job.

Infy is no doubt better than TCS,Wipro,Satyam,HCL etc. But frankly, its no more that elite that it used to be 4-5 years ago since they too have started mass recruitment in recent years and any tom-d-harry-brinjels-and-tomatoes can get into it. I would rate it as the one of the most process stringent companies with better ppl in leadership chain than other indian MNCs.
