Hi Mohan ,

Thanks for the reply.

But u r telling that they are pay master and now you are telling that they can pay 3.5 isnt it seems contradictory...??? A 2yrs Exp guy selected by Paymaster and pay is 3.50 ???

I do not know if Nevis networks are paymasters. But 3.5 is average salary for 2 yrs exp. If they are paymasters, I think you can demand 4.5 - 5L. Although on the higher side in Pune, 2 yrs exp guys do get it. I know people who have got.

If I distinguish two type of company.

1. Google, yahoo..types there standard starts from min 5.
2. Other company are like they don't hesitate to pay more if candidate is right but at the same time you can't get 70 %- 80 % hike, bracket will be 35-40 max %, you can get the sal if you justified that.

So I guess its come on 2 type company, by the way what is your current package, its depend on this also.

Also depend if you are based at Bangalore, chennai..some where, and relocating because of this offer you may ask more.

keep in mind that people who is having 2 yrs of exp, kind of work 2 yrs exp guy will do the same work can be done 1 - 3 yrs exp, if company is having equal capability candidate with different range of salary then HR will prefer the less salary guy.

Again if you are currently working with some good company and not changed that company for last 2 years then also you can demand.

Its appears that your expectation is not fit into my theory, market is expensive now.

You can ask 4.5 they settle it to 3.75 to 4.0 and I think its fair enough.

I am getting what you want to say. Suppose somebody is working for a smaller company for 2 years and his salary is 2.0 L. Then when he goes to a decent company (bracket 2 according to your classification). Will he get only around 2.8 (35-40% more) even though in that company the salary for that kind of background might be more? I don't think so. Comapanies do not like to maintain lot of difference in salaries of people at equal levels. There is obviously some difference but not large difference.

Personally, I think the previous salary should not determine the next salary especially if the person is changing from his first job. Everybody would agree that in your first job, you do not have any control on what salary you get, so basing your next jobs salary on that is not fair I think although it does happen that way.

Your domain is security and they are product base company for same domain, so I guess it would be good.
I am not sure about the work culture, technology wise I guess there product frontend is on Java-flash technology, you may ask these people about your work and technology.

I went for interview and my input are based on that, its seems to be good company.

This is my opinion.

Sumit,

I am agree, basically how you convince HR about salary and how its fit with there requirement and urgency, is finally decide your salary, other wise flat 25 % hike.

for a Instance if you work with small company and dieing to work with Wipro, tcs, IBM they will settle you on lower side.

Nevis is start up, PSPL is well established as compare to Nevis. salary wise I bet PSPL will pay less than Nevis.

As far as brand name is concern PSPL is having more waitage, technology wise also PSPL can give more exposure, but your domain expertise will be lost.

Do you guys feel that in India, if you are associated with a good brand it helps you? I think it helps getting your resume noticed and also your bargaining power. But it may not add significantly to your knowledge. So its important you keep enhancing it yourself.
