Because in developing we have to learn new endless concepts very fast!

I think the salaries of systems admins are also high when compared to developers...

So will u please share the advantages and disadvantages in choosing a career in system administration !

How is system admin job in terms of

1.Pay
2.Job satisfication
3.Risk
4.Job security
5.Oppurtunities in US and in India

I don't see the life of sys admins as easier, but rather different. They also have to keep up with new technologies that are constantly evovling.

1. In the US salaries of sys amdins tend to be slightly lower than that of developers.
2. Job satisfcation is not an objective measure, but rather a personal one.
3. Risk is also a personal matter.
4. Job security varies from company to company.
5. Here in NYC there is a definately lack of good sys admins these days.

US sysadmins are generally lower-paid and far more likely to be on 24-hour call.

As far as learning new technologies goes, I know one who got tossed straight from being a Solaris admin into the RHCE boot camp. He didn't appreciate it.

It's from what I've seen little different than the life of a programmer.
If everything works most people forget you exist.
When things go wrong they scream and yell at you to get it fixed yesterday.

Of course sys admins can more easily make life miserable on other people inside the company than can programmers (and quite a few do just that)...

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
