I don't see the life of sys admins as easier, but rather different. They also have to keep up with new technologies that are constantly evovling.
1. In the US salaries of sys amdins tend to be slightly lower than that of developers. 2. Job satisfcation is not an objective measure, but rather a personal one. 3. Risk is also a personal matter. 4. Job security varies from company to company. 5. Here in NYC there is a definately lack of good sys admins these days.
