I am gona face interview for the post of java developer in "Sohar Internation Urea and Chemical Industries (SIUCI)".
Vacancies are Oman(muscat) based.

How much package I shud ask for...Any Idea about cost of living......plz provide your feedback

I do not know why you are saying avoid gulf. There is problem in only some parts. I'm sure such problem pockets are there everywhere India, London, Madrid, Indonesia, Israel ...But that does not mean people do not go there.

I went on deputation to this country through my present employer. I got around 700 OMR. Besides that Our company paid for Accomodation, Electricty & Medical bills.

thanks a lot for ur replies. i've 2 yr of experience now. currently working for lehman brothers in india for 5 lacs fixed pay....will it be ok to ask them for 15 lacs/annum...someone told me they are tax free country....guys please provide ur feedback...

Yes it's Tax free country. Even though it's a fixed pay I feel it's better to stay in Lehman itself. The work culture & environment should be far better than the company you told previously.
