Hi everybody,

What is the best/appropriate answer for following interview questions :-

> Why do you want to quit the present company ?
> Why do you want to relocate to XXX city ?

Best regards,
Santosh

You only can tell why "you" want to leave some company or why "you" want to relocate. How can anybody else tell that ?

And you should have good reasons for either decision. Nobody likes to hire someone who will leave company and/or city for trivial reasons.

Thanks for replying.

1> Reason for leaving the present company :-
o Problem with current boss
o Want more salary
o Want to work with better company

2> Reason for relocation
o Cost of leaving is cheaper there
o Don't like the present city

Recriter may say that the same problem may be in new company/city also.

Do you think that any recriter will be impressed by these honest answers.

1> Reason for leaving the present company :-
- Looking for a more challenging job (e.g. more responsibility, greater technical freedom, more complex problems to solve and not just maintenance etc)
- Not satisfied with the work culture e.g. want to work more/less etc

Well let me join in.

1> Reason for leaving the present company :-

Well my reasons will be:
1. Looking for better quality of life.
2. More technical innovation.
3. Grossly underpaid by all standards.

2> Reason for relocation
o Cost of leaving is cheaper there
o Don't like the present city

1. Geographically nearer to my home town.
2. Planning for a part time MBA so need good coaching institutes like IMS, times etc.
3. Change can motivate me more as we all get bored off the city some time or the other. Hence I ll be more productive in my work.

Definitely your recruiter will not be impressed with those answers. Make sure you do not bring up your personal problems like "Problem with current boss" it will give bad impression.

Answers like "Don't like the present city" will give impression that you are not flexible.

Avoid giving such bad/negative impressions to your recruiter.
