Hi,
I got thru the infy interview for a PM position and am about to meet the HR team. I have 8.3 years experience. What, in your opinion, is the industry standard CTC that I should ask for?

I am currently drawing 9.1 lacs pa inmy current company. Please advice.

Ask for 15 LPA, and accept nothing less than 12.5 LPA -- you're rather underpaid for your experience.

Ask for 15 Lakhs......50%-60% raise , If you are relocating then ask for more ....Correct me if i am wrong..

I think Salary >= (Exp.in Years)*2 + varaible component+Joining Bonus (Condtions apply)+ Notice Period Buy out

If I were in your place I would settle for 15 CTC with atleast 12 fixed salary. I do not know but if Infy pays that much, does it? You can surely expect that much in a decent MNC.

It should approximately work for all. For 2.4 years exp 5L should be the salary. So from that formula you are grossly underpaid.

Hey,
Its very less salary. Where are you working?
You should get anything between 4.5-5 Lakhs.Go for interview in good company ask for this much salary, if you want to continue in current organization you can show them offer letter.

Let the people understand whats your market value, perhaps they will revise your salary structure (if they really don't want to loose you).Otherwise you have offer in your hand.

I guess you have joined as a fresher in Satyam (With 2.2 or 2.4 Initial package) what happened then in Appraisal?
Companies Like TCS,IBM (Which were not very famous as far as salary is concerned) pays 4.3-4.5 for 2 Yrs of Exp.
If you are in Java (& in Pune)& if you look for Sungard,Amdocs & TPT they will pay you even more.

Infy offered me 12.5 CTC for 8 yrs exp last month. Project Manager, Job Band D.
Again they have a Take It or Leave It policy.

What is Take It or Leave It policy?

I think its bit less as far as Experience is concerned. It should be close to 16 (assuming twice the Exp. in Years)

Dear SHANKAR,

Being an Infoscion I can tell you that the pay scales at Infosys are not great. The most lucrative part of working with Infosys is the Brand Name and the onsite.

If you ask me you should expect anywhere between Rs 11 Lacs - Rs 13 Lacs (CTC)depending on your requirements. This includes the variable component (generally 30%). This is if you are joining in Band Dx (which basically is the PM level Band). If you are joining in Band Dy then you can demand anywhere between Rs 13 Lacs to Rs 16 Lacs (again CTC). However to ensure that you receive the maximum quote nearly Rs 1 Lac extra. This is to give you the benefit for negotiation.

While at Infosys the maximum earning happens when you go onsite. So ask for when would they send you onsite.

Swati,

I also have PM offer from Infosys.. They just mention about "D" band. (not like Dx or Dy - as you stated).. They are offering about 12.5 CTC.. Variable component is 37% of CTC.. I have 11 yrs of experience and currently drawing 10.8 L as CTC.. Infy HR is not ready for any negotiations ... Can you throw some light on this

So does that mean that one can make up for poor scale vie onsite assignments in Infy ?

Hi Swati,
Thanks for your valuable lowdown. I met with the HR team and they are offering 11.5 CTC with a whopping 37% going to the variable part. In fact, my monthly gross at infy will be lesser than what I am getting currently!!! I will try to negotiate for 14 L CTC.

Regarding the onsite offers, I have seen much of onsite and one of my condition is to not send me to onsite. They've agreed for this readily. Not sure what I stand to gain with this offer if they are not willing to budge with my 14 k demand.

Really dis-illusioned at this whole thing.

Regards,
Shankar

Shankar,
if you have any other offer & if you still want to join infy, you can bargain with Infy HR.otherwise tell them straight away your expectations as far as Salary is concerned.
Infy HR has a attitude problem & habit of assuming themselves great whereas their is nothing great in Infy as such.

The formula can be simplified as ~ (no. of years exp) * 2.2.
Sorry to say that there are very few BIG companies in India which can meet it.
Trust me..EMC can definitely pay this and a little above too..
Else, try adobe, informatica or trilogy in blore..ivy comptech in hyd..
Remeber..big comanies and big pay scale dont go together

Hi Shankar,

Though you may have the feeling that in hand you might get less but the fact is at the end of 1 to 3 months(you might be aware of this) you would get the full VP(depends on performance also) which would be a huge amt at that time. So I guess it should be fine. Yes, as Swati mentioned they are not the best of paymasters but there might be other benefits by working with them, from a long term perspective.

See its the case of cut the cake and eat it too types, you can't have both of them, applies to life also, hope I ain't gettin philosophical. Later on if you don't like the job you can always jump.

Cheers!
