Have a very little idea about Dubai, but from previous ranch posts, 3k seems to be on the lower end. I am sure there are many ranchers who will give you more precise feedback soon.

I had offer of 8K AED per month + accomodation + transportation for 3.5 years.
I did not think that was very good offer.

But it all depends on the person and his situation. I am in India and the situation here is that hardly anybody is going to accept the offer which is made to you since you get similar or more money in India itself.

But I do not really know the situation in Pakistan. But overall the offer is not good, I'd say.

3K AED is pretty low for a 2 yr experienced guy. Negotiate for a better pay or do not accept the offer.

I have talked to a friend of my mine who is working in Dubai. He is a civil engineer and got almost the same package (4500k) as you after nearly two years of experience. I guess you can have a decent living with 4500 (assuming you are living alone), but would not be able to save much.

Unless you already have a job which is better (both work and salary wise) than this offer, it wont do you any harm to go Dubai (in a new culture and surroundings) and work for 1-2 years. In the meantime you can change job, if you get a better offer from another company.

It is not possible to swtich jobs in Dubai. I have heard that when you resign from a company in Dubai, your work permit expires and they would ban you from entering Dubai for next 6 months. So you cannot change jobs there.

4500 seems much better. Since they are offering you accomodation, I think you can save decent money. When I was researching, I was told that I would incur monthly expenditure of about 1500-2000 AED. I do not live stingily, but am not a lavish spender as well. The maximum component of that is the phone bill to your country. Phone calls to India are costly from Dubai do not know about Pakistan. Still that leaves you with about 2500 * 12.5 = 30k+ INR = more in Pak rupees.

I think it's pretty okay.

I am curious about IT scene in Pakistan. Could you please tell us the general information if you do not mind. How much salary can a 2 years experience java person get there ?

Thanks a lot for your replies and comments.
Sumit Chopra is saying right that we cannot change jobs frequently there. Sumit If you have offer of 8K AED then I think that was a really good offer.
Its my pleasure to tell you about Pakistan's IT industry. You can check following sites to get information about registered software houses and companies.

Pakistan Software Export Board
Pakistan Software Houses Association

Salary Packages varies from company to company. I have heard that one of the Pakistani software house is planning to open its office in India.

Dubai's company send me offer letter and I accecpted and signed the letter and mailed them back and resigned from the current job. I started my passport and degree attestation process.
But, now I recieved a mail from same company that they are revoking my offer. Because they are not interested to hire a person in their company permanently. They will develop their solution from some softwarehouse. Is there any law, so that I can claim about that company anywhere??

Hello Awais

3K in gulf is the salary for secretaries and drivers and not for techie or programmer. I am an Indian and my friend worked as a secretary in Saudi Arabia and he gets around 4.5k basic salary + accomodation and he has 1 year experience.

Try in Saudi Arabia through www.monstergulf.com and you will get good offer.
cheers

zakir

I am sorry to hear that. It can happen to any of us.

Try going Dubai embassy there and see what they can do. Your goal is to have the government department that has control over companies, like Board of Investments, or those that give license to companies to operate, to hear your complain.

It would be nice if you could put the company name here. It can help other ranchers from getting into the same trap as you did. Plus it would be a good publicity for them

Hello Awais,

With the current job market, there is no shortage of jobs. I do not think you need to compromise on technology you work with. In your situation, I would have started to look for a new job (especially if my employer had started to blackmail me, like yours). Good luck!

The name of the company was not needed at all in this thread. It existed for days without the name of the company being given. The fac that was only requested and given in order to discredit them strengthens our point.

In line with the new policy this thread is now locked.
