I am about to make an applet for listening MP3s. Do you know if it's possible in jdk1.1 (as we know, most common browsers include this java version).
Thanks,
Alex

It's possible if you can find/write a custom java api for decoding mp3 (jdk1.1 only has support for 8000Hz .au audio files). I believe that Apple Quicktime supports mp3 and there is a Quicktime java api, so this might be a good place to start.

hi,
you can use the JMF - JavaMediaFramework to do so. this is not included in the browser so user needs to get the files first.
JMF exists in a AllJava Version and in a Performancepack version with additional features (relying on native code). Performance Pack is available for Windows and Solaris?? and i think a Linux Version is on the way??
