Hi Ranchers,

I am presently employed in a product Company in Hyderabad. I have a total exp of 3.5 yrs on Java/J2EE. ( 2 yrs with a service company and 1.5 yrs in the present product company).

The product company has lot of wrappers , and they have their own frameworks. So the work is not so technical. Frankly speaking , the work in only on Java. I want a more technical Java/J2EE job. In my earlier job I have worked on advanced technologies like Struts , Hibernate to name a few.

So planning to switch to a service company that has some on site opportunity.

My current package is 6.6LPA .

Please suggest me what package I can ask for . Also which companies offers good Java/J2EE projects as well as on site. ( for Hyderabad)

Thanks and Regards,
Sayama Ahmed

Your package is really good. Big Service companies in india, will have maintanance project for the most of time, so if you are lucky then get into development project otherwise you will be doing bug fixing.

For onsite opportunity, try to join, Wipro, Infy or Satyam etc.

Hi Ranchers,

Got an offer from a service company . They are offering almost the same package like the current package. (6.7)

Any idea abt how much the service companies in India pays for 3.5 yrs exp. Do they consider your current package ?

Please reply.

Very few service companies can offer you a significant hike over your current package as it is beyond the salaries they generally offer. This company is probably stretching it's ranges and is trying to match your current salary to get you onboard. If you are really keen on joining a service company, I think you should consider taking this offer.

However there might not be any good salary increments in store for you for next couple of years. And an international assignment can be a mirage. You might travel within first few months of joining or you might have to wait for a couple of years. A lot depends on the project you join and the manager you report to.

Hope that helps :-)
