If you use the plug-in to get the Swing stuff:

JDialog(Frame owner, String title, boolean modal)
Creates a modal or non-modal dialog with the specified title and the specified owner Frame.
or
Dialog(Frame owner, String title, boolean modal)
Constructs an initially invisible Dialog with the specified owner frame, title, and modality.
