Developing messenger with webcam

hello friends....I have got a project from my college and they want me to build an application like msn messenger....not exactly like it...but its major functionality should be able to allow web conferencing with audio support.....
so can you please tell me how to do it...i have given a thought to it...can i build the application using swings and then integrate the JMF which provides the framework for video support and webcam.....please pass me some tips .....thank you
