Set range value for JTextField?

I have an JTextField and i want to fill the Integer value in this, but only in the range (30,70).

Well,

If you have a JTextField, and you want to only allow the integer 30<INT<70

you would just have a button, and when you click it, just test the text in the jtextfield

like so:

  
 

String A = myJtextfield.getText();
 
try{
Int myint = Integer.ParseInt(A);
 
If(myint >= 30 && myint <= 70)
// its good
else
// not good
}
catch(Exception e)
{
System.out.println("not a number");
}
 
  

so if it is a number, it will test it, else throw exception

You could also do something like this:

import javax.swing.*;
import javax.swing.text.NumberFormatter;
 
 
// to create the field
NumberFormatter nf = new NumberFormatter();
nf.setMinimum(new Integer(30));
nf.setMaximum(new Integer(70));
final JFormattedTextField field = new JFormattedTextField(nf);
field.setValue(50);
 
 
// to get the field's value
int val = ((Number)field.getValue()).intValue();
System.out.println("val is "+val);

In some threading situations you may want to call field.commitEdit() before calling field.getValue().


You could also go with Mr. Dunn's suggestion to use JSpinner.
