How can i Create a file on the client side

hi all
is there a way in which i can create a file on the client side which contains a string which is passed to a servlet on the server side.....NO COOKIES please because there is a certain size restriction on cookies......

Instead of storing the string in a cookie, store an ID in a cookie that your servlet can map to the actual string. On requests, your servlet gets the ID from the cookie and looks up the string that is identified by the ID.
