I am VERY new to Java and I'm sorry for this stupid question. I can't compile my code. I have downloaded the SDK software from SunJava and installed it. I have made my first code from "Sams Teach Yourself Java 2", but when I go to dos, enter "javac BigDebt.java" (my file name),as instructed , i get this message; "javac" is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
I am using Win 2000 Pro.
Any help would be great!
Thanks...
Chris

That simply means that you have not followed the installation instructions completely. Your PATH must include the
SDKdirectory\bin
directory where the javac.exe program is located. For example, my PATH environment variable is:
Path=F:\jdk1.3\bin;C:\WINNT\system32;C:\WINNT;D:\Perl\bin
