Actually im not trying to make light of this situation. I think its a trajedy that people were killed and now the killer is going to become king because of it. In this country we have a justice system that last time i checked does not reward criminals. And if anything should be remotely funny here it has to be the screwed up legal system in that country.
A gory end to the island of opulence amidst the sea of poverty (Nepal has one of the lowest Per Capita incomes). There are also conspiracy theories pointing to Foreign powers or to the King's brother and nephew who survived being out of station. It was quite amazing to hear that the prince was crowned. I wonder whether the new King can be prosecuted (assuming he survives). I doubt it. The King can do no wrong. Even if he killed the King !

The idea of a "kingdom" in the 21st century is absurd. It is an anachronism that should be done away with. Nepal is one of the poorest coutries in the world so it isn't as if they have profited from their royal arrangement. If you are going to have a king, then Great Britian does it correctly. Give them no power and pray that they won't be especially embarrasing. [This message has been edited by Thomas Paul (edited June 04, 2001).]
