MP3 is a file format for compressed music. It's more like a .WAV or .AU file than a CD or DVD... MP3 files can be played on your computer by MP3 Players like WinAmp or transferred from the computer to portable devices that store the MP3 files and play them. Since the music is saved on a memory chip, MP3 players cannot skip, and can run for up to 10 hours on one AA battery. MP3 stands for MPEG Audio Layer 3 and MPEG stands for Moving Picture Experts Group... ( gotta love those embedded acronyms... ) For more info on the actual file format and standards, check out www.mpeg.org
