OK, here's the story. In September of 1997, a gal from New Jersey name Cordelia saw my profile on a religious singles' site and wrote me an email. I was in Washington State at the time. I wrote back and things went from there.
A couple months later she told me she was headed to Denver for a friend's wedding. She told everyone (she was writing a few people at the time) that she would not be in touch for a few weeks.
I asked if I could meet her in Denver as I didn't think I would ever be able to go to NJ for a visit (read: I was poor.) After saying NO a couple times and just when I thought that was going to be the end of any potential, she changed her mind and we planned to meet.
We arrived in Denver a few days after the blizzard of November 97. Spent four days together in Denver. Attended the wedding and reception and I kissed her under the mistletoe. Yep, her friend had a Christmas type theme at her wedding. (Aside: After I kissed her, a guy asked Cordelia if he could kiss me. She's convinced the guy was joking, but I'm not so sure.)
I proposed when I went to visit just after Christmas and moved to NJ a month later. We were married on April 1, 1998 because we were a couple of fools in love. Although it worked for me, I'm not sure I'd recommend doing this to anybody else. Too many places to have problems.
And yes, the marriage has been going good since then. Interestingly enough, we now live in Denver.
