Inserting into a database

This one should be easy for you. I need help with the syntax for inserting a record into a database. I have the queries going, but now I need to update 1 record with the values I have. Can someone help me out w/this.

INSERT INTO tableName (col1, col2, coln) VALUES(col1Value, col2Value, colnValue).
since you can do queries i guess you now what to do with it.
