Unregistered Posts

If you want to be taken seriously in this forum, use a registered account. It is too easy to post as the same unregistered poster with the same name. There are getting to be far too many unregistered posts. There have been many debates amongst the moderators here at java ranch on allowing these or not. The large number of posts in the last couple of weeks will likely convert more to the not allowing them side.

I said long back that we should ignore all mails which talk abt religion/country/language.....
but ... I was ignored ...
No problem...
I know it hurts when someone say bad abt particular community/country.
I do not know how can people can talk in such a generalise term ?

I totally agree ... My Dad used to ban any talk of Religion and Politics from the Dinner table because they are always garunteed to cause mayhem. I generally don't get involved in such discussions myself unless I'm certain the person/people I'm talking to are intelligent enough to offer an reasoned informed argument and are willing to discuss rather than argue!
However, some people just like to argue! And as long as they don't get personal they are allowed to in this forum!
I find it all very tedious though!

Hi,
Just as a suggestion, how about if moderators automatically deleted/or closed postings in this forum by unregistered users? This would encourage such users to register.
Its my impression that looking over some of the more recent topics with anti-american,anti-islamic or anti-religious themes may be getting started by one or two individuals who are just trolling and or provoking bad feeling within these forums.

We could just stop unregistered people posting, this is one of two forums where they cna post right now because this forum isn't about java and is just meant to be a place for people to spout off ... I personally am just disturbed by the number of unregistered people talking to themselves (we can tell you know!) and also the number of people who are just trying to start a flame war!
Most people here are intelligent enough to refrain from flaming and they choose to discuss the topic in a semi reasonable way, the trouble is topics such as Religion and Politics are topics that people can become very passionate about because their personal views on these subjects are sacred to them and they take personal offence when someone offers an opposing view! This is why these kinds of topics get out of hand!
I'm sick to death of it but it would be against the remit of the forum to close these kinds of topics immediately, however the ability to post while unregistered may well be up for discussion again!
