Compiled JSPs creating deprecated methods

So I'm working in VAJ 3.5.3 and within this, you can drill down to see your JSP pages compiled. The issue with this whole deal is that VAJ is generating deprecated code. Some of the methods in my compiled jsp pages are deprecated. Is there a setting in VAJ to help it create more up to date code? What can I do to alleviate this?
Here is what it is generating.

The code that is being flagged is bolded. Specifically, this is being flagged in the above code.
session.putValue("error", error);
Any ideas how to stop this or avoid this? I'd rather have VAJ create the proper code...
session.setAttribute("error", error);

I believe there's a way to specify which specification level you want to support: 0.9, 1.0, or 1.1 and I'm pretty sure it's in one of the XML configuration files. Look in the Redbook for JSP and Servlet development with VAJ at http://www.redbooks.ibm.com

Okay..thanks!
Is there any way you can point me a LITTLE closer to where this might be. Sifting through IBM's website is like sifting through the sand of Daytona Beach, looking for a diamond. Lots of great info. But sooooo much!!!
