With jdk1.3 I noticed hotspot and classic flavors of JVM and with jdk1.4 they are now in client and server folders. Now assuming that I was under accute coma since many years:
(1) Why two flavors of JVM?
(2) Why new names?
(3) What's the use of jvm.dll?

Hey! Is this question too tuff or too dumb? Do atleast tell me this so that I could ask it again in the appropriate (begineer or advanced) forum.

Classic was the original VM -- back in the days when everyone was complaining that Java was a slow interpretted language. HotSpot has a Just In Time (JIT) compiler to compile bytecode to native code at runtime. Client and server are two different variations of HotSpot tuned for different situations.
