Hi all, anyone know of any open source "live update" solution already out there I can use to integrate with my product ?

I dont want to reinvent the wheel if possible.

Java Web Start ensures the most current version of the application will be deployed, also deals with jre versions.

Sadly thought I dont envision the user launching the applciation through their browser everytime. It would be nice if they could use the features provided by webstart to update a locally installed version of the software.

You can do that, no problem. A JNLP file can be saved to the desktop and associated with the JWS program.

Ahh ok, that sounds like I need to spend some time looking into this before making any decision. Sounds like it could be good help.

I've used install4J for application distribution in the past which I like. It'd be good if I can carry on using that but somehow call the webstart functionality from within my app. If they click on a check for updates button for example..
