If you want to avoid problems then don't try to break the law. This isn't the USA's problem. They were caught in Mexico. Why should we allow them in? Should we be rewarding people who break the law? Imagine how many more legal visas we would be willing to give out if there weren't so many people illegally in this country.

Hmmm! Pretty interesting. From the article:
. How do you have air-tight borders and still maintain access cheap labor? How to you expand for trade, and still pander to the anti-immigrant vote? How do you stay open to business, and stay closed to people?
Easy: First you expand the perimeter. Then you lock down.

Are we heading towards a new era of race between the empire of North America(read US) and the empire of the EU(read Germany) of conquering the world as it once was among the europian countries themselves at the start of the previous century?

This is a national security issue so why not use the armed forces to defend the borders like other countries do? I know there are objections to using the military for civlian purposes and these have some validity, but after 9/11 we know how much is at stake. Al Quaeda links have been found in South America (Brazilian border region, etc). From South America to Central America and then from Mexico into the US would not be a terribly unusual route to take if seeking entry into the US. There are also other people fleeing crimes in their native lands crossing the border. Additionally the border has become a drug trafficking zone to such an extent that vigilante groups have formed amongst landowners to defend themselves from the criminal activity occuring along the border.

Last time I checked people could still legally immigrate to the US and the numbers allowed in are not insignificant, so the whole premise of the article that trying to stop illegal, criminal entry into the US is part of some plot for global domination or has evil connotations is absurd.
There are many sound reasons concerning national security, and public health and safety for restricting both legal and illegal immigration. Other reasons would include being able to maintain a national identity and coherence that an uncontrolled flood of immigration would destroy.

Germany is in the deepest moralic crisis since 1945. Conquering the world? HaHaHa
In the EU in the last 10 year we have higher growth rates only in relatively poorer states like Spain, Ireland and Portugal.
We had GDP growth 0.8 2001, 0.2 2002 and lot of people expect recession this year (including me).
Our politicans put lots of effort for strict monetary and budgetary policy for Euro-countries.
We broke our-very-important-rules. We have to pay penalty for having broken them.
One needs anti-depresiva for reading the economic section of a german newspaper.

Our wonderful new governor here in Arizona is going to try and make it legal for illegal immigrants to get drivers licenses. After all, these people are “part of our economy” and need to get to work. This will also make it possible for these immigrants to get insurance.
More rewards for breaking the law…
