Which year's Men's basketball tournament's final four is the closest? Which four teams were in the final four?

Let me rephrase my question:
Each year, in NCAA Basketball Tournament, 4 teams will be left to battle for the national championship. These 4 teams are called final four.
There are 3 games among final four teams: 2 semi-finals and 1 final. The minimum score difference is 1 in basketball games.
The difinition of 'closest' is the sum of all 3 final four games score difference will be minimum.
Hint: among 4 final four teams, 2 are from Big-10, 1 from ACC, 1 from Big East.

This sounds like a hard one!
Let me start with the national final:
Michigan beat Seton Hall by one point
So now all it left is:
Which other two teams also made the semi-final!
and what is the score difference for the two semi finals.

It was '89, Rumeal Robinson hit two free throws with under a second left to win the final for Michigan by one point.
The ACC team was Duke, I don't remember the Big-10 team.

Hi Eric:
You are correct. It was 89's final. Duke is also correct. And the last team is Illinois.
One thing special about that year's final four is how close the games were. Perhaps that is why it is called March Madness.

March Madness is an awesome event, maybe the best American sporting event held on an annual basis. I'm not a huge basketball fan, but I always find time to watch the NCAA tournament, much to my wife's chagrin. She always thinks she's out of the woods after the Super Bowl, but she always forgets it's just a matter of a few weeks to March Madness!!

Yes, it is a lot of fun!
I read somewhere the most popular sports in the US are (in that order):
Football (NFL)
Baseball (MLB)
Basketball (NBA)
But in college sports, the two most popular sports are: football and basketball (the order dependent on which school you are at).
In basketball, I heard the 3 best States are Kentucky, North Carolina, and Indiana, in term of popularity, talent, and enthusiasm.
In 89's NCAA final four phrase, all 3 games are decided by a total of 4 points!?! That is simply amazing.
Well, history continues. Maybe this year there will be a new record.

I am in Indiana and some of the largest high school gyms in the country are located here. It isn't like it once was but then again there is more to do than there once was. Girls basketball is big too. Go Kokomo Lady Kats. I believe they are ranked somewhere in the USA Today top 20 in the country.

I got to go to a high school game in Indianapolis when I was visiting friends. I can't remember which schools they were, but it was a great environment.
I'm pretty excited for March Madness this year. Pitt is my team, and so far they are looking like Final Four caliber. It's a long season, though...

High school kids are great. More and more people bypass college to enter NBA. Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett,..just to name a few.
I remember Kobe Bryant once said he still want to go to college after retirement. I think he is right, for an athlete, the best time is before ~30.
