AOL - Free Trail

Now a days everywhere you see AOL Free Trial CDs. They say "No Credit Card Required". But when you install, it asks for Credit Card infomation ! Anybody experienced this ?

I sugges throwing that CD into garbage. In fact, how about a "Throw 1 AOL CD into garbage" day?
They need your credit card because they give you 45 days for free. Otherwise wise guys just reinstall AOL every 45 days with new username, and hoopla - free internet! You won't be able to do this if you give credit card number. unless you change credit cards every 2 months, or your family is big, or you stole a list of valid credit cards....you get the idea.
Why would anyone want to pay $24 and be forced to use their software, that is making you into an advertising guinnipig? Dude, get yourself Juno/Netzero. Or rather pay extra $10 for cable modem

I can't tell you how much I hate AOL. I bought a Gateway computer and it came with a free AOL trial. I never wanted AOL, and never asked for it. But since it was there, I did let my daughter use it.
Months went by, and I forgot about it. Then I was looking through my credit card statement one day, and I saw TWO charges for AOL. I assumed that they both were mistakes. The trial period had ended, and they started charging my credit card. They didn't warn me that I would start to be charged, and they timed the charges just right such that I'd get charged twice before I saw that they were charging me.
I called them and protested, but they weren't having it. They apparently make a lot of cash on that scam, and they weren't giving in no matter what I said.
Their telemarketers still call me trying to get me to sign up with them. If I live to be 500 years old, I will NEVER do business with AOL!
