Hi Ranchers,

I want to debug java programs through command line on Unix/Linux. I couldn't find much information on Internet. Can anybody suggest some good sites or book where I can get useful information.

Thanks,
Anand

Debug via the command line? I think you need an IDE for that.

Yes, we can debug through command line. I know how to complile with debug on, compile javac -g filename.java. But I want more information on how to set breakpoint etc.

Ah right, sorry - showing my age. You mean using the JDB?

Yes, JDB is the command-line debugger. Like GDB, whose name it apes, it is very capable, but decidedly difficult to get to grips with.

Note that, if you have native code, you can use JDB and GDB together, to debug the whole thing.
