running executable jar as a service

hi,
is there a way by which i can run a executable jar as a Windows service.
then i don't need to keep my commnad line window open as long as jar is running.

Do you mean to run the jar by double-clicking? You can usually do that as long as you have the correct file associations set up. Try it.

Otherwise, use javaw instead of java.

But if you did actually want to run your program as a Windows Service take a look at Java Service Wrapper
