mmmm... Chocolate substute.
I love chocolate! The Mexicans turned me on to trying chocolate in what most would consider a peculiar form. It's called mole. It's made out of chocolate, chili peppers, chicken broth and bread crumbs. Man, that stuff kicks ass! It's not sweet but man it's delicious. Mix it with either chicken or pork ribs add some fresh tortillas, ummmm.

I'm a fan of Scharffen Berger chocolate. It's really good stuff.

I miss good chocolate in Korea. Of course you can buy expensive Belgium style chocs all wrapped up in fancy boxes, but I like to pick up a simple block of the stuff and just eat it. I've found a shop that does Hersheys, but what I really crave is Cadburys; I grew up on the stuff!
I was given some Russian chocolate for the first time the other day and it was really good - dark with high cocoa content.

At Christmas I took home some Korean chocolates with red chili-paste centres ... can't say I liked them particularly but they certainly had kick! Actually I'd like to try some of that mole.

If you ever find yourself in the Longview/Tyler Texas area look me up and we'll mix up a batch. Mi casa, tu casa.

Russian chocolate can be very good. The trick is to stay away from the milk chocolate bars -- yucky waxy things made to imitate Western-style milk chocolate -- and go for the old-fashioned individually wrapped candies. My favorite is Karakum (the label has a camel on it). Years ago I spent a year at university in Russia. My roommates, knowing how I loved the stuff, gave me a sack of about 5 pounds of chocolates as a going-away gift.

Let's face it, serious chocolate eaters stay away from milk chocolate. Dark and just a hint of sweetness, that's chocolate!
