adding text to end of list

How do I add text to the end of a list? I wanted to use append but it isn't in the API for the list object. I think append is only used for TextAreas. what should I use?

You want to use the add() method, it can take either a String as an argument or a String and an int as the index or where to add it.
myList.add("newItem", 0);
the String newItem is now the first item in the list.
