Vector question?

Hi friends,
How can I check to see if my Vector is empty or null (basically nothing inside)?

There are several levels of "emptiness" possible:

  if (vector == null)
    System.out.println("You don't really have a Vector object at all");
  else if (vector.isEmpty())
    System.out.println("Vector contains no elements");
  else
    for (int i = 0; i < vector.size(); i++)
      if (vector.get(i) == null)
        System.out.println("Vector element " + i + " is empty");

If the vector contains Strings, some may be "", an empty String, which is different from null. Depending on how you use the Vector, you may be able to guarantee that some of these cases will not be true. (E.g., make sure you never put a null into a vector, and you won't have to check for it.)
