I am teaching a "Fundamentals of Java Programming Class" and want to mention all the best resource web sites available, especially for newcomers. Of course I will highlight www.javaranch.com and www.javasoft.com.
What are some of the others? I would appreciate any advice.
Thanks!

Mark,
I have a mock exam at the URL contained in my signature. Most all of the answers to the questions contain a detailed explanation. If the explanation is not enough, then the answer pages also have links to the Java Language Specification, the Java Virtual Machine Specification, and the JavaDocs for JDK 1.4. If a person still has questions, then the answer pages also contain links to the Java question and answer forums such as this.
My mock exam has a Basics Exam that is good for beginners. Currently, it has 31 questions but I am in the process of adding more.
The rest of the exam has another 101 questions organized both as a set of five comprehensive exams or a collection of seven topic specific exams.
I learned a lot by developing the exam and I think a person can learn a lot by taking the exam and by reading the explanations for the answers.
Please take a look at the URL contained in my signature.
